Dedication and Leadership

Fall Conference 2009 | September 25-27, 2009

History seems to show us that the success of a movement is not dependent so much on the message of the movement as it is on the dedication of those who claim to be a part of it. Military conquests, great social change, religious reformation, and political pandemics are always the result of a group of individuals, dedicated to a specific cause and sparing no pains to see their dream become a reality.

To the generation of young people that exists today, is there an aim that is worthy of such sacrifice? The answer is a resounding yes. “Such an aim is set before the youth of today. The heaven-appointed purpose of giving the gospel to the world in this generation is the noblest that can appeal to any human being.” (Education 262, emphasis added)

If the dreams of putting an end to slavery, fighting for women’s right to vote, and electing the first African-American president of the United States took signification dedication and leadership to be realized, how much more so for the movement that will end all movements? At this time God’s work demands greater efficiency and deeper consecration (9T 27) than has ever been seen before. Heaven is calling for those who will spare neither pain nor sacrifice to see Jesus come in this generation. Will you answer the call?

A major prerequisite for leadership is dedication. It is dedication that precedes leadership, not leadership that precedes dedication.
