This year’s theme is “Rise Up & Build”, taken from Nehemiah 2:17,18 which expresses the earnest desire of this network for young people across the Mid-Atlantic region to “rise up” and be the leaders that God has called each one to be and to also “build” up the ministry that is in each one’s reach.

Elder Geoffrey Mbwana was born in Tanzania, Africa. He graduated from Spicer Memorial College in 1982 with bachelor’s degrees in religion and psychology. He then continued to pursue a master’s degree in education from Andrews University in 1984 and a
master’s in educational psychology at Poona University in 1986. Mbwana’s previous church work includes serving as president for the North-East Tanzania Conference, the Tanzania Union Mission, and the East-Central Africa Division. He was later elected as a general vice president for the Seventh-day Adventist world church in 2010.

Pr. Israel Ramos is the Assistant Director of Public Campus Ministries for the Michigan Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He is also the Director of Bonders, a new Adventist leadership organization that ministers to young professionals and their families across their professional spectrum, with a key goal of contextualizing Adventism for this generation. Pr. Israel, his wife Judy Ramos, and their three kids live in Lansing, Michigan.
